Twenty eight genotypes of mungbean were evaluated to assessment the correlation coefficient
and path analysis for yield and its contributing traits. Correlation coefficient studies indicated
that higher phenotypic correlations than the corresponding genotypic ones, indicating the
phenotypic expression of the correlation were influenced by the environmental factor among
the various traits. Seed yield revealed significant and strong positive correlation with harvest
index, pods per plant, clusters per plant, pods per cluster and 100-seed weight at genotypic
and phenotypic level.Path coefficient analysis showed high positive and direct influence of
harvest index followed by clusters per plant, 100- seed weight, seeds per pods, pods per plant,
biological yield per plant, pod length and branches per plant towards on seed yield. High indirect
positive contribution of pods per plant, cluster per plant, pods per cluster and 100-seed weight
via harvest index. Days to 50% flowering, plant height, pods per cluster and biological yield per
plant mainly via cluster per plant, pod length, seeds per pod and harvest index via 100-seed
weight.Branches per plant, pod length, pod per cluster and 100-seed weight via seeds per pod.
Clusters per plant, pods per cluster and harvest index via pods per plant revealed high indirect
positive contribution towards seed yield.
